Education can promote sustainable water conservation, and increase access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene services.
SDG 6 Partners
The Geneva Water Hub, established in 2014 by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the University of Geneva, promotes hydropolitics to prevent water-related tensions. Strengthened by SDC’s Blue Peace programmes, it has grown as a flexible structure bringing together the University of Geneva, the Geneva Graduate Institute, civil society, basin organizations, and the private sector. The Hub provides a platform for water diplomacy through facilitation, conciliation, and mediation, supported by its Geneva Network, research, and education. It advances international law and policy to protect water as a source of peace, and fosters dialogue to ensure water cooperation across communities, countries, and sectors.
The Global WASH Cluster (GWC), led by UNICEF, is a partnership of over 100 global members and 1,200 national and local humanitarian actors that coordinates water, sanitation, and hygiene responses during crises. It provides strategic and technical leadership, strengthens preparedness and response capacity in over 30 countries, and promotes inclusive, equitable and people-centered approaches. Through operational support, learning, and advocacy, the GWC ensures timely, high-quality, and accountable WASH outcomes for crisis-affected populations.
