CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) is an international environmental agreement between governments which regulates the international trade in wild plant and animal species listed in its Appendices. Its aims is to ensure that such trade is legal, sustainable, traceable and not detrimental to the survival in the wild of these species.
