Equitable and inclusive education is a corner stone for the humanitarian, development, peace nexus, and can foster a culture of respect for human rights and the rule of law. It is a vital tool in preventing and addressing grave violations against children and youth in armed conflicts, and provides both a lifeline and a pathway to social reintegration.

The Albert Hirschman Centre on Democracy examines the plurality of democratic experiences and aspirations in an interdisciplinary and comparative perspective.
Its research and outreach activities explores the multiple forms and spaces of participation and contestation, from elections, courts and streets, to the workplace, scientific fora, and cyberspace.
The Centre promotes collaborative activities with academic institutions, international organisations as well as with partners in Geneva, in Switzerland and worldwide. It publishes and disseminates research for an academic readership, policy audiences, the media and the general public.
Education Cannot Wait (ECW) is the first and only global multilateral fund dedicated to education in emergencies and protracted crises. It was launched during the World Humanitarian Summit in 2016 by international humanitarian and development aid actors, along with public and private donors, to address the urgent education needs of 75 million children and youth in crisis settings. ECW is an independent global fund, with its own governance structure and secretariat. However, for purposes of administrative and financial management, ECW is hosted by UNICEF. Under these arrangements, the hosting organisation acts as the fund custodian on behalf of ECW.
The Geneva Global Hub for Education in Emergencies engages government, humanitarian, development and academic actors to come together for transformative joint action. The Hub promotes policy dialogue, multi-stakeholder synergies and partnerships, and inspires political and financial commitment to deliver safe and quality education to crisis-affected children and youth.
The Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) is an open, global network of members working together within a humanitarian and development framework to ensure that all individuals have the right to a quality, safe, relevant, and equitable education. INEE’s work is founded on the fundamental right to education.
